5 Back-to-School Driving Tips for Teens

Aug 16, 2018 | Uncategorized

It’s the time of year when kids are heading back to school. Just like any parent, you want your teen driver to stay safe behind the wheel. Here at our Rock Hill auto body repair shop, we’ve seen lots of cars that were damaged in accidents that could’ve been avoided. That’s why Carolina Collision & Frame Service wants to share these five back-to-school driving tips for your teenager:

  1. Wear a seat belt. Seat belts save lives. Emphasize the importance of buckling up to your teen. Caution them to never get in a car if there’s not a seat belt for them to wear.
  2. Put away distractions. Cell phones are useful in many ways. But in the car, they’re a dangerous distraction. Warn them against talking or texting while driving. Also have them avoid riding with drivers who text or get distracted by other things like radios.
  3. Don’t drive when sleepy.  Fatigue is a common cause of accidents. If can tell your teen is tired, volunteer to drive them to school or find another means of transportation.
  4. Be aware of school traffic. School traffic puts a lot of vehicles on the road. Teens should obey the speed limit everywhere, but especially when driving through school zones. Review the rules for driving around school buses.
  5. Leave early for class. Encourage your teenager to follow the ten-minute rule. Get them in the habit of leaving ten minutes early when heading out to any destination.

We hope your teen driver never needs our services. But if a fender-bender happens, bring their vehicle to our auto body repair experts at Carolina Collision & Frame Service in Rock Hill, SC.
